Building a Tower

Today Mrs Smith brought in more of the plastic cable holders.  Asher  and Hamish decided to make a tower out of them but they soon discovered they had a problem.  The tower kept falling over.  They had decided to make the tower stronger by putting the largest cable holders at the bottom but it still wobbled and was unstable.  Asher then had an idea.  He slid the black pipes inside the tower which made it stronger and the tower stayed up.  Great problem solving!

Reaching my writing goal

Asher can hear not only the first letter in each word but some of the other letters in the word too.  You nearly wrote the word 'farm' perfect!

Sharing Equally

In maths we have been learning about sharing equally.  Today we used pretend pizza bases to help us learn how to share equally into halves and in quarters.  We made pizza toppings with  play dough.  We then shared these toppings equally in halves and in quarters.  We discovered that if you can skip count it sometimes helps to work out how many toppings in each section of the pizza quicker.

Writing Workshop

Asher's current writing goal is to use his resource card when he is writing his stories.  Today in our writing workshop we practised our goal.  First we read the words on the word card.  We then took turns calling out a word from the card then we all wrote it down on our whiteboard.  The tricky part was thinking of a sentence using our word.
